Responsible for providing structure and leadership in tracking, mitigating, and driving effective corrective actions related to incidents within the organization. This role involves managing the complete lifecycle of incident reporting, investigation, and resolution while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and organizational protocols. This role will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure proper incident documentation, investigation, and implementation of preventative measures.

Responsibilities

Incident Response and Management

  • Respond to incident reports through standardized notification processes (600+ reports annually)

  • Guide incident reporters through appropriate steps to ensure proper notification and response initiation

  • Create and maintain detailed incident reports in the Incident Tracking Tool

  • Track and update key milestones throughout the incident management lifecycle

  • Manage the CA Workplace Violence Incident Log

  • Maintain OSHA logs and monitor TRIR and LTIR rates

Investigation and Documentation

  • Serve as the primary investigative arm for the company

  • Conduct thorough investigations and route findings to appropriate functional areas

  • Document incident impact, mitigation actions, and both short-term and long-term corrective actions

  • Prepare incident reports for customer dissemination when required

  • Create and distribute Safety Sirens across the organization

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Engage with EHS, Legal, Fleet & Compliance, and other subject matter experts

  • Coordinate with functional areas responsible for mitigation

  • Escalate issues to leadership to remove roadblocks for incident mitigation

  • Support the EHS team with additional duties as needed

Compliance and Reporting

  • Determine classification of Significant Injury or Fatality (SIF) incidents

  • Prepare content for regulatory agency reporting

  • Track and report leading and lagging indicators

  • Ensure completion of all corrective and preventative actions

  • Coordinate formal Incident Review Meetings for SIF cases

Project Management

  • Monitor and drive timely completion of corrective and preventative actions

  • Manage multiple incident investigations simultaneously

  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure proper incident resolution

  • Track and maintain accurate documentation throughout the incident lifecycle

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related field preferred

  • Proven experience in incident management and investigation

  • Strong knowledge of insurance management (worker’s compensation, liability, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements

  • Experience with incident tracking systems and safety management software

  • Certification in OSHA standards and incident investigation preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities

  • Experience in preparing and delivering safety-related presentations and reports
